How strong a lighting do you guys keep yours under? I just got a bright green one. I have 110w PC over a 20g long tank. Will it lose color?

Mine dont like strong light so i keep them in the lower half of my tank with VHO's/T5's.Yours shouldn't lose color, most LPS will do well with lower lighting, especially if you feed them.

Mine are on the sand with 96w PC over it. Its probably the fastest growing coral in my tank.

My lfs told me to keep mine at the top of the tank. I have1 250w mh in a 55. Should I move it further down. I admit I didn't research on my own before I bought it.

Research next time :: , but in the mean time I would place it in the lower half and "light acclimate" slowly over a week or so and then place it in your tank where it will receive bright but indirect light.

Thanks for the quick response. Would you believe me if I told you this was my 'first' impulse buy?

Is there a distinction between a branching and non-branching type? I just got a tiny frag of metallic green, with two small heads on it, but they are on long stalks, somewhat like a branching hammer of frogspawn.

I believe they are all branching. When they seem to be attached, they are in the process of splitting. My light green one from the first pic now has 6 heads, about to be 8. I keep it about 3" from the surface under 250w mh 14000k. They love this light, and stay puffy all day. They recede the flesh at night, and extend the feeder tentacles. Once a week, I direct some freezedried cyclopeez into the tentacles at night.

Mine started as 2 heads, now I have 6, and I should have 8 this month sometime.

Does anyone have any comments on the two different morphs? The ones I have seen most are the green ones with heads about the size of nickel and then this other variety that has larger heads with red flesh and green centers like this one:

I call it my lobo-candy

And yes, I finally got my pictures hosted elsewhere, so here's a shot that's a little bit better than the one I posted earlier:

I have found that my regular candy grows very fast - the one above grew from a single head and I have know that I have traded away at least 25 heads of it. My lobo-candy grows much slower.

Will do Ludwigia. I may be headed south to Miami in March, but those plans are not finalized yet.
