Rbta

I brought home a RBTA yesterday, and he looks like he is doing great.
He already settled down under my MH lighting (175 watt) in a little crevace that conceals his base. He hass nice bubbles if that helps

ow fast do these guys grow? How often should I feed him if I want to get him to grow and what do they like to eat?

I would like to pair him with a clown fish but the anenome was only 2-3 in in diameter. When the anenome grows to more like 5-6 in I will add the clown. What clowns can I add, or what clowns do others have in theirs. I really wanted a pair of percula or false percula if that would work.

I had a rbta that was about the size of a golf ball ehen I got it. I fed it a silversides once a week and in about a couple months it was the size of a dinner plate. They grow fast if the conditions are right. Anemones have their own synbiotic algae and can live indefinately with no feeding at all, but tend to do better, grow and split when fed.

If you want it to grow fast... feed it 2-3x a week. If you want it to grow slow... feed it once a week. Make sure the anemone is at least 3x the clowns size for it to work out too.

Maroons and Tomatoes host BTA's in the wild. They are good choices.

I have a pair of maroons in my 75 and I love them, even though the wee beasty female bites me everytime I place my hand in the tank. They will host with almost anything, each of my toadstool leathers and my carribean rock anemone for example.

If your tank can take it.... my algae would grow like crazy if I fed that often. I get healthy growth feeding about once a week. I've only had it for 3-4 months and it has already grown, split, and grown again.

I've only had problems trying to mix clown species. My maroon killed a pair of true percs, but that was a newbie mistake of mine. Otherwise, my maroon has been a good tank mate.

I have a pair of clarkii clowns that host in my RBTA. I don't even feed mine and it is nice and healthy. It does grow slower but I don't mind that at all.
