My two new babies

Here's my baby Kaitlyn born on December 18th of last year.

And my other baby. Thanks to Steve (troutonmyline), I was finally able to get her up.

Maristar Fixture

Sump, Ca Reactor, Skimmer

The skimmer is the new ATB Small Conical Skimmer. I love the way this thing skims.

Nice babies, the cute one and the one where *you* had to work to make. From 1st had viewing, your mess of parts all over your apartment has turned into a sweet setup. Looking forward to seeing how the ATB skimmer works.

Hiep, congrat man ... thats so cool.

On your overflow box where you have the big elbow coming out of the bulk head. What you want to do is drill a small hole on top of that elbow and run maybe a 1/4" straight tube higher than your tank so that the flow will be nice and quiet and doesn't have that vacuum effect. Idealy what you want there is a T like how we have it in the skimmer output but since you already have the elbow, drilling a 1/4 hole is easier.

Thanks Tom. Will do. I was afraid it was gonna slurp. My other option was a dusro standpipe but your idea is much simpler.

Hiep, where's all that skimmate come from? There's nothing organic in the tank yet is there?

Cute Baby #1

Congrat Hiep!! Cute babies

I would run a dusro standpipe now instead of drilling the hole into the elbow. What if you can't seal it properly?? It would be really suck if you have to take it out and replace all that stuff ..

Beautiful Baby Girl Hiep!

And, beautiful new tank. I'm sorry you didn't need my help on Saturday. I like that skimmer and I would have liked to see it running.

If you need any help in the future, feel free to call me. I know how hard it is to balance out a tank and a new baby. Mine turns 11 months next Wednesday.

Congrats, Hiep.

Thanks everyone.

Adrian,
That's skimmate from breaking it in on my old tank before I shut her down. That's about 2 days worth of skimming even before break in and low bioload.

Phong,
Good point. I'll take that into consideration.

Matt,
Thanks again for the offer. I posted on the other thread to stop by and get a freebie for your kindness. Maybe you can see the skimmer in action too. And congrats on your baby too.

Charles,
Thanks and I'm still in sunnyvale just upgraded tanks.
