Thanks guys, I will definitely check both of them out. I will check with the place around the corner too and let you know.

David I might take you up on that. I might need some pointers on putting one together, if you don't mind.

David,I finally got one done. The first try was a dud,not much flow. I had to open up the slots, and man what a difference. That thing has some push. I made a rotator, but you need to mount these things to the side of the tank,on a pivot. Then you can attach the rotator. So now I need to make some mounts. Ted

These things do move a lot of water. Daddyjax used mine for a few days in his tank opposite a Tunze (1800 gph). It was obvious this MJ was moving more water than his Tunze. Will the MJ motor hold up under this use ? Who knows, but for the $ throw it away in 6 months if need be and get a new one.

I just got my two maxijet 1200 mods in the mail. I had one of the originators of the mod do it for me for a reasonable cost. They came out great. Very professional looking. It looks like something you would buy in a store.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put you in touch with him.

Did you get them from Matt? I got a few from him about 4 months ago, I had one impeller break but the rest have been just fine.

Nope. A guy in California who has posted extensively on the subject and his experiments with this mod.
His Reef Central user name is "dhnguyen".

If anyone is interested....I bought extra everything when I was making mine. I have enough extra props, stainless rods, carbon fiber tubing, clear tubing, shrouds (already cut on my table saw like the one pictured at the beginning of this thread) - everything ready to turn your MJ 1200 into a stream in about 5 min. without having to hunt down parts / order by mail, etc. Only have enough for a couple, if interested pm me.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I haven't read the whole thread Has anyone addressed the issue of the Maxjets starting up in reverse half the time when used on a wave timer?

It has been addressed. If you look carefully at my second picture you will see a little plastic extension inside. If the prop spins in the wrong direction...the prop will move forward and strike the plastic and stop...drop back down and restart in the right direction.

I just picked the prop. and all the other goods from David and put it on my mj1200 and all I can say is .......WOOOOOOW. That thing is pushing alot of water. Can you have too much flow?...lol For those of you that have not seen his tanks I can say it is one the cleanest tanks I have ever seen.
