On line photo stores and reference areas
Great source for used cameras:
http://www.keh.com/onlinestore/home.aspx[/URL] Reputable stores: Adorama Camera B&H Photo Others: Ebay....buyer beware..there are a lot more "stores" offering items now as opposed to regular joes looking to unload equipment...so check feedback. Also, many manufacturers offer "Factory Refurbished" cameras that can save quite a bit. I bought both my Nikon D50 and S5 as factory refurbished. The D50 came with a 90 day factory warrantee instead of the normal 1 year, but I bought with a credit card that extends that to 1 year minimum, so no real difference in the end. Saved about 40% over new on the D50, and probably 75% on the S5 with underwater housing. The S5 came with factory 90 day, and the dealer (Cameta Camera) added a 1 year warrantee through them for no additional cost. Bought both through Amazon, the D50 was direct from them with free shipping, while the S5 was listed on Amazon, but through Cameta.
So if your shopping around, you may want to consider refurbished equipment. Often many of the big name camera stores offer them (including B&H and Adorama), and can sometimes offer extended warrantees if you want one. Since refurbs are often only available for a short time, in small quantity, you sometimes have to shop for a while, but can often find what you are looking for if you keep an eye out.
