deep reef was the only place that would regularly get in nice butterflies...it's a shame they've shut down. live aquaria had some mitratus FS in diver den...may want to check those out.

i'm on the hunt for those three you listed too....if you find any lmk

I think Old Town has either a tinkers or declivis in their front window tank.

We sure do miss Deep Reef.

I know. I miss deep reef. Jeff use to be able to get Tinkers for $300 when they came in. Use to get in all kinds of rare stuff. I saw the mitratus on LA. I bought it a few days ago. Its looking real good.

I saw on NYaquatics they had burgess available. I am thinking of picking up one.

LOL old town be asking a fortune for that butterfly. Yeah I sure do miss Jeff bigtime at Deepreef. He would probably already have all of three of butterflies in stock. Its nice to have options like LA Divers den for getting in some rare stuff.

Hopefully Jeff will reopen another store again.

The Tinker's, Declavis, Mitratus and Burgess are all deeper water species that have the best odds at being "reef safe" compared to other butterflies (obvious exception being the Copperband, Muelleri and the one "reef safe" Heniochus).

Because they come from deeper waters, their normal food source is not solely coral polyps and will usually adapt well to captive feedings. Also, collecting from this depth is very difficult - thus the rarity and the price tag.

will be checking out the tinkers this coming week, thanks criccio/jmicky. deltec rules, i doubt i'll be able to house it before the new tank arrives, i'll let you know it's condition if you're interested.

esdayal, most butterflies arent reef safe (the deepwater species mentioned here, generally are), but to some, a little polyp damage is worth it to keep these gorgeous fish.

Now the muelleri/altivalis are the ones I'm searching for, but I doubt I'll find either one. I'd like to try a rainfordi, but I know the success rate with that one is dismal.

I do like the tinker's the most of that group, and OT's was nice looking from what I remember. Good luck with them, and post some pics when you guys get them.

This online place has a couple of them... http://www.reefhotspot.com/store/ind...c0efa83a95fd89
