Spoanthids

OK so I made that up, but check out this orange sponge that is lined with zoanthids. Its cool the way the way the orange sponge grows like a tree and the zoas form in a line, but never cross. It looks just like candy, and is so artful it doesn't even look real.

When I first got it

I'll have to get a pick when they aren't out. Its really cool!

I got an email that this might be some sort of strange gorgonian instead. Its a lot different than other gorgs I've seen since the orange is really like a sponge and w/o that stick-like appearance. Anyway, its cool whatever it is. I hope I can keep it alive!

Very Nice! If they are zoos, I've never seen white ones before or on the ZOAID site. You should name em and submit How bout "Snow White"?

OK so it might be a zoanthid/sponge colony according to someone on the zoa forum. Supposedly they haven't been doing great in captivity (not too many have been brought in) but mine is doing well so far. I'm going to try some specialized sponge food and my tank gets plenty of plankton/small food.

Snow White, thats funny. You have to see the line between the zoanthid lines, its like a hard candy, or cake decoration.
