Captain Larry's Aquarium "Bargain Basement"

The first time it was nice. I have been there now several times, never buying anything. I just check it out to see if it gets better. It is better (organized better) than the old "Bargain Basement" but the captain must be at sea because it looks like all the fish have ich or something. There are several dead fish in the tanks. There coral looks terrible. There tanks are always empty and dirty. There has been a "comming soon" sign on a few tanks for months now. They are getting mice and rats in the store to sell also. This is not good.

Anyone ever been there?
What do you think?
Ever bought anything there?

Yeah, I been there and at the pervious store..

Remeber "Mr. Pickles"???

I also seen the downturn of the store as well...but some of the simple corals are prices pretty resonable but then again what is wrong???

I like their clam tank but still cautious...

They could probably have a decent store if they work at it...

That is kinda an open statement

what do you want to hear?

The store is decent, i think most will agree it is not a high-end reef store.

It is a hit and miss. But be warned, most of the time I go in there. the fish have white bumps on them. Maybe Ick. Im not sure. I just stop in if i drive by the exit off 76. Maybe once a month or so. I never bought anything. There B-Ionic price is good. I think its $25. While your there you can check out the rats they started selling. I think its a bad idea. Just My opinion though.

You are 15 minutes from Salty Critter, 1 hr from Capt Larry's. I am 15 minutes from Capt Larry's and 1 hr from Salty Critter. Most people would kill to be 15 minutes from SC. I think you know where I am going with this....IMHO Don't waste your time.

Hi,

I was not going to say anything but you will be very disappointed unless you are in Akron for some other reason. I would not drive that far for Capt. Larry's.

Care to elaborate on that? I haven't been there in a long time since it was Bargain Basements. Obviously there has to be something up because they keep re-opening under different names but haven't a clue other than that.

Captian larrys is a not a place worth traveling for. I do drive 1 hour to salty critter, but its worth it. I live 20 minutes from captian larrys and only stop in if I drive by the exit off 76. As I said before, there fish always seem to have something wrong with them. There is alway dead fish in the tanks or dead something.
So you might leave there with more than what you paid for. Thats why they are shady...
