sun-polyps wont eat

I bough my sun polyp about a week ago. The lfs had just feed them and they looked great. While feed the fish I would see them open alittle but nothing more. I just read a post about removing it from the tank, placing it in a bowl and feeding it that way. They still wont open. Any suggestions, products to buy? I dont want to starve them to death...help!!

Cut the top off of a 2L soda bottle (or 20oz, depending on how big the colony is). Place it over the colony and target feed that way. Using this method, other fish cant get to the food as readily, and it keeps food near the polyps for longer.

I just feed the fish first and then use a turkey baster to feed the polyps. The residual food continues to feed the fish/inverts.

Look at them about a half hour after the lights go off... They should be open and happy and fish asleep!

lol you probably read my post, they do take a while to open, or so ive heard. mine was open in the bag on the way home so i dunno.. some peoples have found the coral dont upon for a couple of weeks. they dont have very high metabolic rates so they can go a while without feeding. You could try buying Cyclopeeze, that seems to get feeding responses from nearly all corals/fishes.

add some lunar lights and they will open up quickly..........take some frozen cyclop-eeze and a bit of tank water and make a good thick mixture and let it reach room temp. take a syringe and hit every polyp with a small bit. those sun polyps will take it in like crack

No, just on top of each one...the syringe make it easier to hit each one. Personally, I use a syringe used to feed babies medicine, as a cube of mysis fits in it perfectly.

Mine took a couple weeks to get aclimated...be sure to feed at the same time at night, to get it adjusted to a cycle. I perform my feedings 30 minutes after the main lights go off and the actinics are still on. I would also recommend the 2 litre bottle top, as my CB never sleeps.
