Could they have once been....

Is it possible that these were once PPE's or PE's of some kind? They have the green mouth and purplish centers, and under just actinic's the skirts have a green tint to them.

I got them from a LFS. I got a bunch of corals that were unattached floating around the bottom of the tank (for $1).

I'm thinking they just lot there color.

Any idea's or inputs would be great. Thanks.

pe's seem to color and even morph under the right lights. they look like normal green pe's right now which are common in most LFS. need to give them a couple months

If they have white striping on the underside of the polyp, they could be a Z. gigantus (PE's, etc.). I've had some doodoo brown that colored up nicely. Most of those (and yours look similar) went the way of one morph or another of the green stardust PE. The speckles around the mouth nudge me to that opinion.

gflat is 100% right as usual and they will change depending on their environment. Light will play a HUGE role in how they morph. Great find!

They're under 70w metal halide lighting with 18w actinic, so I guess we'll see what they do.

an to boot they have a green mouth! All the better. Put them up high under 20k and the might go RPE-high under 10k and they might go some other doofy aspen name. This is a genus that is very easily changed over time, with light and nutrients. Either way a very nice happy healthy find! good luck with them

Yep those are PE's they will either morph to RPE's, Green PE's or Green stardust PE's. Put them in high light.
