While taking some top-down pics of the clams for the clam forum, here's what I found:

The problem with the clams started after I introduced these cleaner wrasses and I watched this one nip at this clam several times in the space of about 10 minutes. So I guess i have to trap the buggers!

here are some more top-down pics. The quality is not too good because I was really trying to get pics of clams, but what the heck!

bite me. everyone says that but no one has been able to do it yet with the 20K lamps. I used my POS with no tripod, leaning over the tank edge so I had no expectation of good quality. It was actually just a clam issue and I shot some extra pics.

I had a near miss with the foxface too as I went to try and use acrylic for the shots, the fish thought it was feeding time and swarmed my hand.

Got a new lamp for my QT UV but it is the wrong size, and while trying to fit it in, I broke the glass tube. Next time i have visitors coming, I won't start getting ready until 2 days before, that way I will only break two things.

I now have about 40% of the coraline off the viewing pane. Sherman said he is going to come over and finish it up for me.

testy? Muah???

Dude, I just got 4 polyps of Forest Fire from Ultimate frags. They are tiny buggers but very cool ($9 each, dammit!). Got in several other corals but the main one I wanted was DOA. So are two others that I can tell so far. Did get a nice Purple haze chalice, Wild orchid duncan, Orange crush acan, and a Blue flame monti. I hope those all survive. When I got the package this morning, the water temp. was 61F.

To be honest, I really shouldn't be buying corals but I don't know how long it will take to get the new tank designed and built.

BTW Gabriel, bunch of pics are gone from your thread and I can't remember your web site.

Sounds like you have your clam problem sorted out Nice to see some pictures of your corals as well, Nice hammer by the way.

As for the green hue on the clam, I don't know what it is, but I like it . My lobophyllia started out red, and now

Sounds like you gotta learn to stop breaking stuff though I knew this hobby was expensive, but that'll break the bank

our cleaner wrasse will also nip at our clams, but it never does any real damage and not enough to cause the clams to close up and starve out.

Glad to see some pics on this thread!

... In any condition!

My tank is wrasseless, but my YT will scope my large clams all the time. It just barely touches the mantel and waits for any hiding pods to dart out then gobbles them up. Very cool to watch, a little startling at first as I thought he was tearing into my clams! But, no harm to the clams, it does make them retract for a moment but that is it.

I am not convinced that it is just the wrasses either, since the clams are a little bleached. But they certainly aren't helping matters.

I think the green hue is actually algae.

I took some off my site for space issues. Were you looking at old pages? It is here or the reef galleries are here

I never know what you are talking about Steve!

Is it wrong that I get excited when I can't get to my door?
