What is it with people, that their state of denial can't see what's happening to critters under their care? I think every time they have a case like this, the perpetrator ought to be legally committed to an institution for at least long enough to get them on dose-pump meds.

Yup, damn shame they outlawed slaughtering or he could have unloaded them for a couple bucks instead of letting them starve to death.

i wish i knew, sk8r. i have a friend who has horses. i will visit her place and she'll point out a gelding and say "i gotta get him on a diet!" and i can count every rib. she'll point to a mare and say "look at that fat girl!" and i can count every rib.
i have NO idea how a person can look at a starving animal and not see a problem. hubie, i'll agree with you up to a point. i've heard and read too many horror stories and i've seen the pictures. if they could figure out a humane way to transport and kill slaughter-bound horses, i wouldn't have a problem with it. when you consider the methods vs. starvation, i'm not sure which is worse.

This is why I don't watch Animal Cops or Animal Precinct. I just can't stand watching that stuff.

I think you should have to have a license to own a horse. Too damned many people don't realize how much of a responsibility they are. I like horses. Steve don't ride nothing that aint got brakes but I think they make great pets if you can afford them
When I was a kid (back in the olden days) we used to board horses some. Amazing home many sick or underfed horses our boarders would take in to nurse back to health. There were idiots back then too.

my old guy was simply ordered to never keep any more horses. there aren't too many jails that want to house a 90 year old man with dementia.
