Post metamorphosis, grow out logistics
These questions came to mind while re-reading Clownfishes.
If you are continuously hatching new batches of clown eggs… Do you use the small baskets Joyce recommends to divide the juveniles into groups of 36 or less? Or do you use large tanks to house the entire group of juveniles? At what age do you combine fry from different batches, if ever? How many grow out tanks do you have per breeding pair? I guess what I really am getting at is… if you are hatching fry every month or even multiple times a month, how are you managing to house the juveniles that are post metamorphosis until they are ready to be sold, given or traded away? thanks Allen |

The short answer:
Lots of room and even more tanks. The long answer: My A. ocellaris pair lays every 14 days; that means I need a minimum of 5- 12 gallon tanks for hatching and rearing to 10 weeks, as I combine my juvvies at about 10 weeks by movng them into a series of 50 gallon growout tanks running on yet another system. That means a minimum of 7 tanks per breeding pair All told I have 5 seperate systems running, each with their own water quality management systems: A parent system A hatching system A growout system A quarantine system for WC's and a reef system to distract the wife & kids Dman

No real aggression issues as long as there are sufficient numbers to spread the hate around some.
