643 A.chrysopterus eggs

Day 2

Here is a pic of the nest the day it was laid (Sunday)

As expected, they ate about 50% of the nest, and looks like a few of unfertilized eggs are still there. I do not like the way this nest looks. Let me know what you guys think.

These first time parents suck. They do nothing for the eggs.

Eggs were huge even on day one. They were and are bigger than percula's eggs on the night they hatch. Makes me wonder why S-strain is recommended.

And please, can someone help me locate eco-tropic?

While I know nothing about crys babies, one thing to remember, it's not the size of the larva, but the size of their mouth that defines what food is appropriate. The bublebee goby (Brachygobius xanthozona), a brackish fish, is one of the smallest full grown fish (~1") and the newly hatched larva is about the same size as newly hatched ocellaris, if not slightly smaller. Anyway the newly hatched larva of that fish take BBS as a first food.

Hey Marina,

Amy and I were just looking through a clownfish book (I know we get kinda wild on Friday nights) and on the last couple of pages are some close-up shots of chrysopterus eggs at various stages of devlopment. Hopefully you have this book

Day 6

The nest looks good, you can see tiny eyes developing

I hope I will have enough rots to feed these lil dudes. I think I will mix L and S-strain to feed the babies. What do you guys thinks about this idea?

They should hatch tomorrow. Wish me LUCK

Marina,
You need that cool umbrella that all "professional" photographers have for their flashes. Just don't knock over that stand!
eek!
Great pictures

Of course, we would forfeit only to that gorgeous female you have.

BTW, where did you get her?

That little lady belongs to the little lady of this thread, Marina. At the moment Marina is under the impression Ms. blk Chrys is only "boarding". I am torn with wanting to get the meanest chrys I have ever encountered out of my main anemone tank and keeping the best looking chrys I have ever seen. She is beating the heck out of a copperband, tusk, naso, and even a little skunk in a 300gal with 5 huge anemones. Go figure. Darn hobby is painful sometimes

fwiw: I may argue that one my chrys beating up Marina's little male was an even trade, but I don't want to let that secret out while someone might be listening ;>)

Marina: That is so awesome.

Traveller7: If you want to get rid of a mean chrys. I have a 188 just waiting for one.

They are not killing each other, but not dating either. The growth rate of the skunk leads me to believe we may have a female x female event on hand. I am putting the dividers in to bring the space down to 4'x2' and see how they do for the rest of the weekend. In addition, we'll see how the chrys takes to the magnificas as well.

OK, decided on liquid cpeeze....

And sparing Scott the pain of maintaining the meanest female chrys

I guess I make choices once a year in October
