Talking ok to the other dottyback experts :D

ok so i just split up a pair of dottybacks, it seems as though ive had to do it more than normal lately, these are pairs that have been good performers for a long time between 18 and 24 months almost solid then

BAM

one ends up beat up, missing eyes, fins, tails and nasty bites

and attempting to put the 2 back together ends with one being beaten up again, or worse attempting to pair them up with new fish seperately ends in the same results

im kinda used to it with my newer pairs and definately when im pairing up unpaired dottybacks, but it seems that ive had to do this more often lately with my older pairs so anyone know of a max breeding age on dottybacks or anything else i should be looking for???

I had a pair of fridmani, shortly after the first spawn the male killed the female and would never accept another mate. I thought it was pretty odd.
