Lighting question

Hello I just installed my retro mh 250w there about 10" over my tank is it important to put a uv glass over the top of the tank currently there is a peice of acrylic with some open slots i arranged the lights to go right over those empty slots as best as i could

Double end or single mogul socket. Correct me if I'm wrong folks (I only have DE HQI) but I believe DE need a uv glass while SE does not.
