New Addtion:
It's a beautiful fish and the pics do not do it justice - if only my Purple Tang (aka The Purple B*st*rd) would leave it alone! You can see that the warfare has caused some slight dorsal fin tears. I spent $25 at the LFS to buy something to preoccupy the Purple Punk; I hope it works out. (Don't ask - you don't want to know, but it is another Sander's Acclimation tactic!) |

Easye - you definitely keep track. Have you been deputized as part of the Tang 5-0?
But to answer your question, there is a Purple, Desjardins, Regal, and Chevron making 4 tangs. Aren't they beautiful? |

Im not part of the tang "5-0" however.. all those tangs in a 90 is just not right.. think about how much they swim in the ocean .. now a couple of small ones would be ok.
Didnt u loose a mimic tang? now the PB tang is gone.. and before u know it that purple tang is gonna kill the poor chevron tang.. i dont want to sound like part of the "tang 5-0" but fish have feeelins too good luck

Alright... I finally got my Pacific Coast Calcium Reactor installed. I was a little reluctant to get it going, but I am now officially counting bubbles!
I do not have any room below my tank for the reactor to sit and I did not want the reactor visable, so I drilled a small hole next to where the carpet and baseboard meet and ran the water lines into the wall to keep things hidden. Shown below, this wall is about 2' from the tank and the reactor sits on the same plane as the sump/fuge. I just built small landing for things to sit. Nothing special, but it'll do! A little installation-tweaking had to be done. Originally, the irections called for two feed lines to be placed into the sump along with the effluent return line. I tried to install the reactor as diected, but found that the water supply was insufficient. I am not certain as to why, but figued it to be the distance that the reactor has to sit from the tank peventing a strong enough syphon. So, I removed the 1/4" Gest fitting and replaced it with a 3/8" fitting. I then put a valve on the second feed line to seal it off and put a small feed pump at the other end of the 3/8" hose. At first I was a little concerned because of a small leak. I thought that I had created too much positive pressure, but after tightening a few fittings, things seem to be operating fine... for now! My effluent pH has been holding steady at 6.9 |

LOL - Thanks Dustin.
I am going to have to say once again - anything I buy at the LFS is mine. Whether I put in in a 10g tank or take it home wrap it in seaweed and serve it to the neighbors, it's mine. "..throwing money down the drain." - Yeah, I do that a lot. I am horrible with buying things I later decide I don't want. Does that make me a bad person? Didn't Polonius say, "To thine own self be true"? Well, let us not forget this is a hobby to which we should find joy. Not a 90g or 900g tank is going to provide wild fish anything close to their natural habitat. If I was in this hobby with that mindset, I would NEVER buy another fish. As far as this system is operating, there are currently 3 tangs in the tank. The Blue Hippo, Purple, and Desjardins. All are fine, happy, and even school together. If the fish grow beyond this tank, well then that's a great reason to buy another tank. Thanks for the good wishes and to those that lurk these forums looking for opportunities to play the enviro-friendly card, like a previous post (stevedola) mentioned, "Don't waste our time." |

If I was in this hobby with that mindset, I would NEVER buy another fish. Your comments are foolish and border trolling. If you had a 180, most people would say great tank and move on. A 90 is not a 180, nor 900. As your hippo get larger 10in or so. It has no room. Sorry, if this is a hard concept you can't understand. Your one of those people who go against the norm and looks for the attention. In most peoples eyes, your just a fool with another wasteless thread. Try getting attention in some other ways in your life. Keeping tangs in that small space, just is not right. Your justification are week and feeble. |

LOL - "hard concept" - apparently quoting a post is something you are having difficulties understanding...
Anyway, I think you're the feeble-minded mental midget among us. What is so hard about understanding free-will? My money - my fish - my tank - my time. Later Scotty |

Just let him do what he wants. He would not have that many tangs in the tank if he did not want too and since he does not listen or care whats the point of babbling on about it? You cant change a person its that simple. Sadly theres nothing you can do so the best to do is ignore it.

I would put 9 Tangs In my tank.
Folks... I understand that in all good concience that part of responsible reef keeping is making sure that while you are getting enjoyment out of your piece of the ocean that you are in no way jeapoardizing the animals that you have forcefully entrusted in your care. With that said I don't see a problem with Bloke keeping his tangs in his tank and removing them at a later date when they have outgrown the tank IF that is the plan. I for one overstock sometimes and as my fishies Grow I trade them in toward other pretty fishies because I take care of mine. They are always incredibly FAT and healthy and colorful and no scales missing or nipped fins. I feel good taking care of them and then trading them in for others that also makes my tank look as if theres a LOT more fish in there. As a result I don't have to buy fish very often
