Congratulations!

My brother's Christmas baby (Dec. 26th) turned 1yr old this past week. He and his wife said that no babies were born on Dec. 25th in the hospital (she went into labor Christmas night), and by the next night most of the maternity ward was full!

Congratulations!

So, let me ask you. How do you feel about having to give more presents to him just days after christmas? I guess it will be easier to shop because you can mixmash his christmas wishes with his birthday ones.

Lucky kid

Let me give you a piece of advice...DON'T mix Christmas with his birthday if at all possible...

I can speak from experience, my birthday is Jan. 3 (yes, this Thursday ), my brother Jan. 4, my mom Dec. 11, two of my daughters later in January and another daughter Dec. 12...having a birthday this close to Christmas makes a kid feel cheated...they may not openly tell you in time, or they may tell you in years to come it just depends on the child...I've had gifts from people that said "Here is a gift for Christmas and your birthday." As an adult now, I see that those people probably didn't have enough money to spend on Christmas and on a birthday immediately aftwards...but, to the children that isn't so apparent...all the kids think about is getting presents and when you combine the two they get upset...

So, like I said, if you can manage it please keep the birthday completely seperate from Christmas...sure, you can use the left over Christmas wrapping paper for the gift(s), put Christmas candies on the birthday cake and such...but definitely, definitely keep the two as seperate holidays...yeah, maybe they shouldn't be so selfish, but lets face it...kids are kids and I guess they do have a right to hold on to that niave innocence for a while...

Just my two cents...I'm off the soap box now...

Angela - My youngest is 1 month old and we have a total of 7!

The half-birthday thing is a good idea...gives the child a sense of identity, individuality...too close to Christmas and they feel it is all part of the same holiday...shame my parents never thought of that...

WOW Jason! Aren't big families the greatest! We have 5 boys and we will try AGAIN, next summer for a little girl! My grandmother says "Its a sad man that can't make a girl when he has the pattern right beside him!" yet my husband still can get it right! Our oldest is 12 then 10, 8, 2 and 6 months.

I come from a family of 5: 4 boys and 1 girl (the youngest). My mom claims they kept trying for a girl.
