Keeping BTA's Bubbly?

How do you get a BTA to be so bubbly? Any suggestions other than the basics (i.e. - good water quality, lighting)?

I don't think you can. From what I've read no one is really sure why some lose the bubbles in the first place.

Interesting. Curious how Drs/ Foster & Smith always seem to keep em bubbly. Thought maybe somebody knew their secret. Mine seems a bit more bubbly after some rock rearrangement or some sort of disturbance to it. That's about all I know.

I don't know either, I know there was one in the store here for months all bubbly and the day after someone bought it, it lost all of the bubbles. Mine never had bubbles so I don't miss them. And then some don't seem to lose them at all. Definately a mystery.

I have a RBTA, that plit into three. One of them came to rest under my acro (It's prety big) and it shades the BTA but it kept it's bubble look. The rest did not and are more long tiped now. The latter get plenty of light. I too have asked the same question.

As have I. I have a GBTA that was huge and split into 3. Now I have 3 Huge GBTA's and none of them have bubbles. I have asked this till my fingers hurt with no answer.

Do RBTAs ever regain their bubbles after not having them for several months?

yes, they sure can. Mine used to never be bubbly... then I stopped feeding them so much. Now I have lots of bubbly anemones. Cant tell you why though.

Pure anecdotal experience.. I was able to make mine "bubble up" everytime I put it in a food container and shake it in a wavemaker fashion. (push-pull) It would lose the "bulbs" as soon as I pick it up since it's nothing but water inside. It is now sitting right next to a return in my tank and is bubbled up all the time, since it gets the rapid "push pull" motion on that spot. Like I said, just my observation... YMMV.
