Stand is 38.5" tall and the tank is 12". Optimal viewing is standing, or sitting on a tall chair.

My stand is 36" and my tank is 29". Standing and sitting by the dinning table both provide good viewing.

The inwall tank in the family room is over the love seat and can easily be viewed from anywhere in the family room and attached rooms. The stand is approximately 42" high and the tank measures a standard 72"long x 24" wide x 30" tall.

The freestanding stand in the entryway measures approximately 31" high and that tank is 72" x 24" x 24".

40" tall from floor to bottom of tank and tank is 30" tall
Standing is great but is still viewable all the way around the 3 sides
Splits my living room and dining room pennisula style

I've had stands from 24" tall to this one 40" and I would never go anything else if I was to do it again JMHO

40" from floor to bottom of stand 30" tall tank. Ours is set-up as a penninsula with bar top built around it. Perfect viewing while standing or sitting on a bar stool.

I love looking down through the top of the water (no cover) into the tank, it's a really neat way to view things. So for me not so high I can't look into it from above.
