Pistol shrimp.

I got a pistol shrimp today and he made a burrow under a rock by the front of the tank. A nassasarius snail was crawling in front of the hole and pushed sand in. The opening filled completely. Should I be worried? Or will the shrimp dig his way out? Thanks

Oh dont worry, he will dig his way out. He will make all kinds of burrows under your rock with different exits.

Thanks for the response.

Mine tend to pop up all around the tank at different times. I don't think you could block them in if you wanted. I'm guessing the shrimp filled the hole in and moved itself. Just a coincidence the snail was there.

No worries they dig and dig and dig. Pretty soon he will have a whole tunnel system under your tank.

Yes, don't worry. He will not get buried.

Here is my watchman and his pistol shrimp. They have about 6 different openings to their underground labrynth in my 24 gallon cube.

Mine paired up within 5 minutes of me adding the shrimp. Good luck. They are really neat when they pair up.

We just got a pair on Wed. Its a Banded Goby and a Caribbean Pistol shrimp and I have to say they are both pretty big. I havent seen the shrimp but the goby is settled in living under a Frogspawn overhang. The shrimp is there, I know cause every so often its "High Noon" and the shoot out begins! LOL!
Sounds like cracking acrylic, very loud and unmistakable. Cant wait to see them come out together

I barely ever hear mine click. Only a few times and I have had mine about six months. My goby was very tiny when I got him and so was the shrimp (added a month or so after the goby). When I say tiny, I mean tiny. I wonder if that helped them hook up so fast?
