moving my mature maroon clownfish
i've had this one maroon clownfish for years and years now
i think it's going on 4 actually, and for one reason or another I have to move the tank into my room now my question is he's in my [reef] aquarium downstairs and it's about 30 gallons. he's probably about 4-5 inches, mature and i'm worried that he won't be able to take the new tank The new tank is going to be 15-20 gallons, i want to go smaller. the only problem is he's fully matured, i've had him forever and i'm very hesitant to give him up. He pretty much never leaves his host anemone but i don't want him to be crammed any suggestions? or just straight up tell me if I can do this if i can't, i can't. i'm just rusty on all this cause of work, and i'm looking for a more managable size thanks

Not sure what you are asking. Are you asking if a full grown maroon will go in a 20? If a maroon can go into a new tank or if moving from downstairs to up will be stessful? Please clarify and I will do my best to help

a fish that size needs at least 45 gallons. she is cramped where she is now, going to a smaller home will not be good for her.

for clarification i have to move my aquarium [from downstairs] to my room and make it smaller, probably a 15-20
it's just grown too big and i figured i wouldn't be able to put it in a smaller tank, i just hate giving it up after having it for 4 years. i guess i'm going to have to find a home for him

FWIW if your clown has been living alone for four years, 'he' is actually a 'she'
It's probably kindest to find her a new home if moving her to a smaller tank is the only option. A 15-20g tank isn't near large enough for a maroon IMO. If you're attached to the fish and really want to hang onto her, I'd keep her in her current tank or a larger one if possible.

I agree with ACBlinky. All good things must come to an end
