Talking help w/ 5 gal frag tank

so i want to set up a frag tank.

i just have this 5 gallon sittin around and this is what ive come up with.

in the 5 gal, just 2-3 levels of eggcrate glued in (so like shelves) barebottom.

gettin a nice aquaclear and jammin it full of LR ruble and macro algae.

a heater and a light. maybe a small power head too.

question is, do i really need this to cycle? or is kinda like a QT, plug and play status?

would i need anything else?

any feedback is greatly appreciated.

also interested, what lighting system are you going to use? as far as cycling, as long as you use water from your other tank it should be alright. but if you are starting with new water than a cycle is needed.

If you use existing rock rubble and water you probably wont need to cycle it, maybe just give it a couple days. I was thinking of doing something similar for my desk. Your best bet would be to check out some of the pico reefs in the nano section.

if i were to do it i would probably use the coralife 18watt Power compacts, but i would also only be doing softies.

Tagging along.
