I've had the pleasure of being a hobbyist and professional aquarist, but wasn't happy working for someone else so I cofounded Atlantis Marine World Aquarium where I designed and built this 20,000 gallon reef tank, so even though its this big and at a public aquarium, its still my own reef tank I spend enough time here to call it my second home, and my wife works here too, as well as my kids during the summer Joe |

Its cool that you get to have ---most probably -- the biggest tank of any hobbiest on rc--and most in the world. and not be burdened with the bill. Thats awsome. -alien |

You are legendary in my mind. No offense but I am thinking of something like a 450 gallon tank. Calling all REGULAR large tank owners ! |

I'd be happy to continue an Atlantis thread if interested in a new thread. I never get tired of talking about the tank. Did someone say protein skimmer? (4' diameter) |

Now that is cool. I need to get down to Riverhead one of these days. I live in Maine but work for a company based in Brooklyn, so one of these days. Can I get the private tour ?? |

and action........pictures please ! I can post pics of my 58 but that wouldn't even cover JustJoe's daily evaporation. I am sure it wouldn't even be close. In fact I would be surprised if his weely skimmate approaches 58 gallons.

The skimmate line goes directly to a drain, so not sure how much/ day is being removed. When cleaning out the neck and riser one time, I did remove over 4 pounds of muck. The picture below was from a day when I didn't have it adjusted properly and had a bit of an overflow... Look closely and you'll see my footprints in the foam as I ran around the corner to adjust a valve... I just had to take a picture of it! Joe |

Nice. I also have a borther-in-law in Sag Harbor so I will make it done at some point. Can't say when. I hate to leave Maine in the summer months because it is so nice.
