How to capture pods???

I have a 20 gal tank that I will be tearing down. It is LOADED with PODS! Is there a way that I could capture some of these before tearing it down? I would love to get them and add to my 125. I tried to get some with a turkey baster. I managed to get a few. Some of them are so large they actually look like baby shrimp! Thanks!

What will attract them to the rock in the jar? I have some live rock in the tank right now.

Instead of the baster you could try some 1/2" rubber hosing and just siphon what you can every now and then into a bucket and go from there.

NuclearReefs, What I'm saying is, should I remove the other LR before trying the jar thing.

How about getting a strainer and drain your tank water into the strainer? I don't know the size of the pods you are looking to keep, but get a screen hole accordingly.

Are you transferring the LR to the 125 also? Done deal! I'd make the swap, then add a jar with a wad of chaeto with the lip buried to just below the substrate level so they can crawl in rather than trying to swim up and into the jar. Most of the pods will dive into nooks in the LR as you remove it and simply be transferred that way. The ones in the substrate and caught goofing off away fro the LR will make an attempt for find shelter, they love hiding in my chaeto in the fuge so it reasons that they'd go for it in the jar. Scoop the jar out about 1 hr. after lights on and you'll prolly have collected the bulk of them. Since you have them in the jar at that point you might want to keep them there are a week or 2 to culture and double or triple in numbers. Add some nasty old substrate or some phyto for them to munch on and soon you'll have a jar teeming with pods.

catching pods

Take one of those open cell foam blocks like they use in filters and place in the bottom corner they like to crawl though the pore you pick the sponge and rinse them out

STACKER, No I won't be transfering the LR. The 20 gal tank has been treated with copper at one time. Although, I have snails and crabs living in that tank with no problem. They stay on the LR with no problem and PODS are living with no problem. But, the thought of putting LR that has been exposed to copper kind of scares me.
