FWIW I have a 10x3x2h. My recommendation is go at least 3 feet front to back and 4 if you can swing the space. Front back depth is really, really nice.

the tank will look very squat. Its to long and short.I have a 120x36x30 and it still looks out of dimension because of the length.

BIGNICK
You have a shark /reef tank. COOL ...I have a 75 that I am converting to fo when I get my big tank up. I have a 55 that I wil be using as my sump for my new big tank. I have a couple predator fish in it right now. I was thinking of getitng a shark but I think the 75 might be too small. My big tank will be 375. I thought about putting a shark in it but I am afraid if it eating all the little fish int he tank. What kinda shark do you have in your big tank? Do you have little fish in there? I am really afraid because of what my Lion fish has already eaten.

The extra 2" adds a lot to the money.
As for why not going wider, space and cost. It is only 2x2 but its still 11ft!!

looking forward to seeing you set this tank up. I'm going to do a 10'Lx 30"W tank but still debating on the height. Either 24" or 30" so I'll have to keep watching to see if you are happy with the height or if you wished you had gone higher.

I have a closed loop on my 8 foot long tank and I wish that I didn't have it. The laminar flow limits what you can put at the output and you will never get enough flow thru that monster relying on just a closed loop.
Don't hurt yourselves moving that thing. |

Main pump is a Barracuda. It will have 4 enductors on it.
No skimmer. Display will have 600lbs of Aragonite. Sump has a 4ft refugium area. Live rock, just got in 100lbs of fiji. His old system had about 200lbs of fiji that will go in as well. Sorry for the delay on pics, keep forgeting. Got the overflow boxes glued in last night, sump is all plumbed. Lighting is 3 400 watt and 2 250 watt Metal halides with XM 20K bulbs.

It looked like there was no bottom in that stand and there was carpet underneath. If I were you I would put a bottom in the stand and seal it so that it holds water.
