fragile montipora
I have some montipora digitata that has been growing very well in my tank. But when I rearranged the tank I bumped it a few times and peices broke off very easily. I saw someone frag a coral and they had to use considerable force. I have calcium in the 500 range, what would cause the coral to be so fragile?

That is nothing unusual. Most SPS are alot more fragile than they look. Just dont bump into it!

My digitat are very fragile as well. I think that is one of the reasons they grow so fast. They dont build as dense of skelatons as some of the other acros.

Hope you started frags with the pieces that broke off?

I found that if they are mounted near higher flow, they tend to grow a little more dense than their less-flow brothers.

they break easy when you don't want them to, but if you want to frag it, it will take considerable force
