converting an aquaclear to HOB fug?

Has anyone tried that?
I have a spare aquarclear hang on back filter. Was wondering about converting it to a small refugium with liverock rubble and macroalgae. Thought it might be a good home for pods and was wondering if it is worth the effort?

Lots of people have done that, but I don't know whether the filter is large enough to be very useful as a refugium on a 90g tank.

why not invest even a 10/20 gallon gravity fed fuge if you can do it... wont cost much easy to hook up and ATLEAST it would be better then an aquaclear
