Coral id? (odd almost 2D coral)
What is this coral?
A couple months ago I purchased a rock with some tonga mushrooms on it. Then, about two - three weeks later this coral started growing It is a softie and a current pic (grew from nothing to this in about four weeks; actual size is about two in around and an inch high). I have put this other places and have only gotten three responses. So, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andy |

Have you tried to post this in the Micro algae form?
Try Calfo's form.

Looks like a macro algae to me. Grew too fast for a coral.

Looks like Dichtyota Macro algae to me, but it could be anything. I agree with the others, ask Mr. Calfo.

I know he has a fox face, flame angel, orange fin tag, yellowhead jawfish and a few other nippers in the tank but they do not touch this piece pictured. It came of tonga rock if I remember right.
