Pool dust? is that like the DE they use in pool filters? Never seen anybody use that in a tank...

I would turn the powerheads off and give it 24 hours. I hope that real fine "dust" stuff will stay settled once it settles and you turn the powerheads back on. Never heard of anyone using that before in a tank.

You can if you want, but the water might get stagnant. Either way, the cloud should settle in a few days or so, at most.

I think you should let everything run. With the use of the "pool dust" you may always have a problem with suspended particulates. I hope not, but if it is what I think it is you may have a problem. Why did you use the "pool dust"?

DE is diatomaceous earth.. commonly used in pool filters.. It is very fine.. like dust.. I don't know it it is any good for aquariums.. I know it is used in DE filters for aquariums but Have never seen it as a substrate... It is used to kill insects, when crushed it is extreamly sharp and cut little hole in the bug that causes it to dry out...

I don't know it this is what you have.. but if it is, it's just dead diatoms..

don't confuse the americans with aussie pool dust...

No it's not used in pool filters...

Because argonite sand over here is so damn expensive lot's of Aussie's used a product called Pool Dust which is crushed White Marble..very fine....when mixed with Size 0 and Size 00 crushed marble maes a great subsitute for argonite sand as a DSB

Sweet, thanks for the info ...

Aesthethic,
Skip the "test fish" your live rock will cycle the tank... no need to rish a fish..

i placed the size 0 an 00 in a tub and washed it then added pool dust and mixed it through then washed again...

I had to mix it that way otherwise the pool dust was too fine and would mostly wash away....

I still got the cloudy water , turn off the powerheads and skimmer and let it settle...took about 1-2days...

Then ran some carbon to polish the water
