possible reactor
I would like opinions on the possibility of turning a protein skimmer into a calcium reactor. If possible how and what would I need to make the conversion. I have a skimmer given to me from the LFS pretty large one but the one I'm interested in to changing as a SeaClone 100 with a Maxi-Jet 1200 power-head. I'm open to any suggestions on whether or not this is feasible.

I don't think a Maxi-jet 1200 would work for a calcium reactor. I've only seen eheims and small mags on calcium reactors. All the pumps I've seen on commerical and DIY versions have an external pump and the maxijet is not an external pump.

maxijets can be run externally or internally and should work fine.
Using a skimmer would basically mean just cutting the round body out and starting from scratch. I don't think you're saving that much by doing it this way. |
