Choosing the Appropriate Reef Cleaners?
Hi all, My new 90 gallon tank is nearing the end of its cycle (NH3 0, NO2 0, NH3 ~ 10) and Im debating on which cleaners to purchase and in what volumes.
The tank will be a truly mixed reef ranging from SPS to softs and I want to find the best cleaner group for that purpose. What do guys recommend. In addition, Id also like to get some critters for the fuge and would like to know the best choice there also.

I used to keep one hermit per gallon and two snails per gallon, with half of my snails astrae's and the other half a mix between ceriths and others.
After replacing my snails for the last two and a half years, I am done with hermits. No more for me. I hate to watch them pull a snail out a shell, get in it, just to turn right back around and get into the shell they were originally in. And there are tons of snail shells all over the bottom of my tank. I like to keep a serpent star. They will clean up any food left and they are cool as well. A sand sifting goby is a nice fish addition to keep the top of your sand fresh. And a great fish with tons of personality is the lawnmower blenny. It will leave kissing lips all over the glass. |

Well, as far as quantity Im not too sure but I would suggest hermits yellow-tipped, blue-legged, scarlet-reef, halloween, whatever color(s) kinds you like and then definately some snails. I have found that turbo snails and margarita snails do great. Cerith snails also do a good job just dont' do it as fast as the first two i mentioned. there's my two cents...hope that helps
