Anyone have an Outdoor Kitchen?

I'm building one next to our pool cabana. It will have a "hose" sink - too far from the house to run water, impossible to tie into the Town sewer drain system

Very rough diagram: Where the B's are a bench each 7' long (due to fence that will be on that side) & will be for storage
C's are a counter - approx 3' x 10' - will have sink, small fridge underneath, one side will have an overhang as a bar for stools
There will be a bigger fridge in the shed/cabana
Pool is on the side away from benches -
Trying to think what else I need to add, it will have GFI protected outlets. There will be a partial shade "roof" possibly w/fan
It will be encased in cement board & stucco'd & painted
Top of counter will be tiled...unless I find some granite someone is getting rid of

My dream is to have an outdoor kitchen. I would want a grill, or something to cook on. Is yours mainly going to be a bar, or an actual kitchen for cooking and entertaining?

Do some searching they are doing cool stuff with concrete countertops, if you can tile you can probably do concrete yourself. Here in Ohio the outdoor kitchen could only be used the three nice days a year we have! Although this summer has really been nice!

Cool idea Dave! I've always wanted to have a small outdoor kitchen with a patio area and all that, including a bar.

I think you will enjoy the fan for sure...crazy as it sounds, an outside ceiling fan is one of the coolest things...what are your lighting plans???

When can Ace and I come over and enjoy your pool and outdoor kitchen? LOL!

I should be finished - according to the wife - with all the construction sometime in 2010!!
It's too far from the house to be used a lot, it will mainly be a pool party setup. We have a portable grille that we can plugin - George Forman humongo model. And for large parties the gas grille can be moved over

Do you need a nanny? Gardener, live in maid...

all of the above, I can order the French Maid outfit online

I'm starting to "step up" construction - I need to get some of this stuff done. And hopefully during the week instead of on weekends

I'm going diving today - Scuba club does 2 large boat dives every year - 18 people. Hoping for lobster for dinner!

Lighting will be rope lighting for the most part. I have a nice pool light (needs to be installed), some very nice copper garden lights (need to be installed), and (2) 48' rope lights (need to be installed).

I must of lost my brain (needs to be installed) to do all this
It will be nice.....once it's finished

I recemented my flag pole - after adding another 5' section to clear the new enclosed porch roof. They didn't really put enough cement support around it. And of course I bought a bigger flag

God it sounds fantastic. I imagine the building is driving your wife insane, but the end product of all your work will be worth it. I can see now there is no finished as far as you're concerned! Obviously a guy who needs to keep going.

a built-in 40gal esky(ice chest) would be sensational.
throw in 2 of bags of ice and the beer will be icy cold in 15 min.

The small fridge will strugle to keep the drinks cold with everyone opening it all the time(keep it for the food).

a nice outdoor sound system(if you don't already have one).

cold beer, great food(lobster), good mates,. can life get any better!!!!!

Looking at colors for the Cabana...I want a Carribean look....bright colors.

Behr has a light orange color that we like, "Bright Citrus". The color looks great at the store, not even close on my laptop screen.
The wife wanted an aqua blue, but the pool is blue.

The Kitchen area I'm thinking a light mint green.

Usually when everyone comes over we have a large bin full of frozen 2 litre bottles & ice/soda. Plus we have coolers....which for the lazy factor end up wherever we are sitting - sun or shade

There is a stereo in the shed, and I have extra speakers to be installed

Planning a party July 30th...the wife is turning 40 - said she didn't want a party. Now she's like...whadya mean we aren't having a party!!!??

here's my outdoor kitchen

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

here's a pic of the whole set up

i can cook an entire meal out here, including what we call a "cowboy breakfast", very popular with the gang. eggs, bacon, sausage, cinnamon rolls, toast, and coffee you can float a pistol in.

and I just realized tomorrow is the last "day" to finish stuff. Next weekend we are leaving Fri afternoon to go camping/diving.

And the party is on the following Sat

I ripped out a weed infested corner of the front yard & made a garden. Transplanted a 4' multi tree birch clump, multiple clumps of black-eyed susans, white shasta daisies, a couple dozen glads I had growing in containers, plus some other flowers, mint, & ground cover

Instant garden - veering towards jungle already

I think I will paint the cabana while the wife is away tomorrow at her moms \grandmothers for a - Bday lunch
