Borrow an acrylic hole saw?

Does anyone have an acrylic hole saw that I could borrow for one cut? A hole saw 1-1/2" or slightly larger would be perfect. No rush - next week or weekend would be great.

I'm in the city (north side) but will be out in Downers Grove and possibly Palatine at least one day next week.

Thanks!

Home depot sells some standard hole saws for pretty cheap, I've cut there my overflow and plexyglass with no problems.

You can just use a regular wood hole saw, they work just fine. Probably about $6 at any hardware store.

Thanks - I thought I had read that but wasn't positive and didn't want to take a chance at cracking the tank.

I have one you can use . I don't know if its meant for acrylic but i used it to drill the holes on the plates i used to cover my overflows. I bought it a local hardware store for i think $6.

Thanks Nick. For $6 I'll probably just buy one myself. The acrylic-specific hole saws go for a lot more; I couldn't see spending >$25 for one hole!

Just be sure to keep the area wet with a spray bottle as you're drilling. You don't want to overheat it and start melting acrylic.

Now you tell me, I had to cut it 4 times to get through through the melting acrylic I had already cut. I used a wood bit also work well. I put clear packing tape over area to be cut to help with melting acrylic.
