Is this really a sebae?
I've had this anemone for a couple years now and have always assumed it was a sebae. However i have still never seen one like it... has anyone else? is it really a sebae? Also it would be cool to see some pics of other cool sebaes!!Thanks

I have seen pics of other purple sebaes similar to that one. If you can get a clearer pic of the base/foot of the anemone I am sure it will help with IDing it.

Wow, that is really a nice anemone. Judging from the little flip up of the oral disk, I would say it probably H. crispa (sebae) although when I saw the first pic I thought it might be a M. doreensis (LTA).
If the foot was red when you bought it, it is a LTA. If the foot was white, then its a sebae.

That is some serious wow.... Seen some similarly coloured LTA's but not too many sebaes like that. I agree with the ID, I think it's sebae (H. crispa). What a showstopper!

i think it's a h. crispa sebae. i've seen sim. color combos f.s. at lv.aq. d.den. thanks for including the night shot, looks like a true representation of it's colors (which are very nice), the first pic's colors are just ridiculous! have a look at the surrounding coraline algae and the orange around the dorsal area of the clown.

I also thought it was an LTA at first. Stunning H. crispa, though.

It would be real tough to get a shot of his foot in the spot that he is in. So i guess it is for sure a sebae though...
The only photoshoping was done by pressing the "enhance" button on my kodak easyshare software. There was alot af actinic though... here is a couple more pics... [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] -Dan |

Wow, very nice.
Here's my H. crispa, looks very similar to your second pic in my tank but I can't get the purple to come out well in my pics: |

Dude seriously "enhance" or "not enhanced" that is a nice anemone.
Makes me want to go find me a purple sebae! I just love the look of the tentacles... But maybe I should get rid of a couple anemones first. 2 carpets, couple BTA's, one ritteri capable of expanding to 24"... they take up too much real estate!! Had a sebae early on in the hobby, that thing too was >18".

thanks
BillyFSU, they do look very similar because of the green oral disk. Sweet pic thanks for showing it, i'm convinced that it is a sebae for sure now. |

I have a sebae with a green oral disk as well, but those pink tentacles are amazing. Even most purple sebaes only have color on the top third of their tentacles. Your pink goes almost all the way down. I've never seen anything quite like it.
Old pic of mine.

My first thought was doreensis, but it looks like it might have mauve tipped tentacles in which case I would say crispa. It's hard to tell with the overall color of the tentacles. The sparse tentacles make me lean toward doreensis.
Here's my crispa.
