Which LFS do you do business with most?

That poll at the top of the board gets on my nerves, as many of the stores no longer exist, so I figured that I would start a new one. I used multiple sources to get these names, made calls to ensure they are still in business and did the best I could to get every store added and remove any that shouldn't be on. If I missed any, they should do a better job of making themselves easier to fin. Sorry.

Old Orchard because it is close to work.

Old Town if I want nice FW fish

Other reefers if for coral.

I agree, that list at the top is weak. Too old.

Yes, someone pointed that out to me yesterday. Their web site is still up like they are still in business. I guess we won't have to worry about them getting any votes then.

I voted for Sharky's since they are:
Close to my house
They have best corals and prices
Super friendly staff always willing to help and give great deals
Have a small area for my kids to play
Supporters of CMAS

Is there any way to get address and web sites on the poll like the old one had? I know when I first moved here, it helped quite a bit since I didn't know where anything was. I could just hit up Mapquest and find out if it was within my driving radius for the day.

I guess I should have thought of that before I posted it. However, I believe that it may be too late.

Coral paradise is closed.

For me I'd much prefer a CMAS shop but proximity is a huge issue; I haven't liked Sea Schor so I wind up at Fish Planet in Deerfield. But I think my next purchases will be on-line.

Coral Reef. The cheapest store for dry goods & they're 5 minutes from my house. I've known these guys for 20 years & they let me bring in any fish I can't handle anymore. In addition, they'll let me sell stuff on consignment & catch my own fish!

Let any store you know of that is not on this list that they should add themselves to the fish store locator as well as they might want to get some sort of web presence that will bring them up when doing a simple search for Chicago fish stores.

I can't imagine doing business with anyone other than Mike and Elizabeth at Dark Lord Coral. Fair prices and the nicest stuff on the market from the nicest people in the business.

The list is clearly made by someone from the city that thinks anything south of 95th is cornfields. I don't see any of the south suburbs shops on it. How about Aquatica, Capture the Sea, Go Fish Aquariums, Exotic Aquatics in IN, the new place in Mokena (can't remember the name).

Then I guess we can count on you to do the next poll and know that you won't miss a store. Thanks for volunteering.

And they are least smart enough business people to take advantage of free advertising by adding themselves to the LFS locator. ;-)

Like thats their big marketing strategy. To be on the LFS locator. I couldn't even tell you where this LFS locator is. You missed a few stores, no big deal it happens. No need to be snide.

And Im glad you took the time to redo the poll. That thing was so out of date it was ridiculous. All were saying is there were a few stores left out. No biggie.

Likely they have no marketing strategy. Most small business don't. Most small businesses fail.

I am not being snide, I am being snippy.
