Kalkawasser question ???

Hello I just started dosing kalk thru a gravity fed top-off system using a Precision Marine kalkreactor.I was told to put about 250g of powder in the reactor and that should last me about a month. My question is how do I know if the kalk is exausted or will it just disolve and then I will know.I am using the Kent kalk right now. Thanks for any help.

YOu can see into it, right? If it looks mostly gone, or goes kind of grayish and different looking [impurities] add more.

Don't be too worried about amount. I just dump in about a pound in mine, and dump in more when that gets within an inch of bottoming out. Periodically you may need to clean it, if it gets sludgy.

I never tested mine before I had a pinpoint PH monitor.
