I have been IO and my alk has always been high and my Calc low, so that makes sense I guess.

I used to buy Tropic Marin for 90 dollars for 300 gallons. I now stick with Reef Crystals. Cheap and on sale quite often. The only one that really sucks is Oceanic.

Always caused algae blooms for me. Several of us noticed it and a HUGE thread was on here about it. I switched to Tropic Marin for about 6 months with no issues. I figured I'd use my bucket up and used some and the same junk came back. I went back to Tropic Marin. However, I can only get that salt in Orlando, so now I tried Reef Crystals. So far, no issues at all.

Can you clarify if that was Red Sea Coral Pro, or just regular Red Sea you tested?

if you go back to the original link it might clarify it but I think it is the regular red sea

Why does it say "used to be?"
Reef Crystals (used to be) 420 12 1260 Is it called something different now or are the numbers different? |

the new one isn't the same. I have heard from a friend that the batches he recently got weren't the same parameters anymore

on a second note both george and i use oceanic and love the results. no algea problems as stated by jay but every tank is different. we use it due to the parameters and according to the numbers it looks like the oceanic is the better choice but just like vho vs t5 and 10k vs 20k i guess my motto always comes into the picture. (do what works best for you). btw oceanic has almost no salt creap and mixes within mintues if not seconds. jmo

Key words there "Not Available $39.99 $79.98"
I just ordered 2 buckets of IO from there because they have free shipping over $50, and wanted the Oceanic, but it was unavailable then too. Have you already recieved it or is it on backorder?

I have used IO for many years. But I have also mysteriously lost fish and had algae blooms over the years for no apparant reasons(all parameters were fine). So i figured it was time to try something differet so I ordered 58lbx 4 of oceanic mix from petsmart. We'll see how it does. |
