LFS Spreadsheet

Here is a spreadsheet I made which include local fish stores (LFS) in Broward and Dade counties which stock saltwater fish and coral. I will post updates periodically.
Attached Files
File Type: xls broward & dade lfs 10-9-06, no broward & dade tabs.xls (62.0 KB, 1572 views)

I think we should start giving each store a rating. Well the ones we've been to anyway. Then take the average of all the members and give them a total score.

I suggest rate them on
0-10 for the health and condition of there livestock.
0-10 on the selection and variety
0-10 on the stores helpfulness and knowledge
0-5 on the display set up.
0-5 on the likleness of you to buy there.

So let me go into these in more detail.

0-10 for the health and condition of there livestock. Do the tanks look clean and healthy

0-10 on the selection and variety Do they have polyps and shrooms or do they have a good selections of clams, sps...

0-10 on the stores helpfulness and knowledge There is a store in boca that I just wont shop at because I hate the staff. I wont say who it is but there is a real Barrier to me shopping there.

0-5 on the display set up Is it just tanks on concrete blocks or does the store have style. I think of big als as a store I just love to go to.

0-5 on the likeliness of you to buy thereThis is basically this store vs. the others.

This totals to 40 points in 5 categories. While you may prefer different measurments I feel its important to rate them. Heck is it worth it to drive to XYZ store across town.

I do not want to get into a store rating system. I would rather this thread stay as neutral as possible. Please post any "ratings" in another thread. Thanks.

My bad, Sorry. I was thinking we could easily id those stores that really stand out.
no intent to steel your thread.

Also let me say that that list is great. Who ever put it together really needs some props.

Well then I also thank you chris. I email it to someone last night who was done wrong by a LFS. He was looking for a new one. This list rocks.

Chris I commend you, you’re doing a very nice thing here, and the fact that we are not bashing stores with a rating system, it’s very impressive. Keep up the good work!

Hi,

For those of you who still can not open this file. You might not have excel or an alternative excel program to open it.

Here is the solution for you This is OpenOffice it's a great alternative to Microsoft Office. It will open all office files even very old ones you can also save the files which you created on OpenOffice as Microsoft Office documents.
It works great and also very easy to use. The best thing about it is that it is FREE!!

You can download it from here:

Home Page:
http://www.openoffice.org/

Here is a more direct link:
http://download.openoffice.org/2.1.0/index.html

Enjoy,

There's:
Fish's Paradise
420 W Hallandale Beach Blvd
954-961-5050
M,Wed-Sat 12-8 Sun 12-6, closed tuesday

Also, I think you have a wrong address for Age of Aquarium
SHould be 5810 S University Drive in Davie (Univ and Stirling, in the SuperTarget Plaza)

There's also another Pet World out in West Pines.
Nice, family-owned shop. 15871 Pines Blvd 954-437-5100
Haven't bought fish there yet, but my wife got her 2 dogs there

Almost forgot - there's also Aquatic Connection - www.aquacon.com they're normally an online-order house, but they open to the public on fridays, 10a-5pm. Number is 954-747-8511 You'll need to call for the address.

Welcome to Reefcentral and FMAS MyPartOfTheSEA

The list is pretty much updated.
But if you know of a store that just opened recently or a store that is now extinct. Please post them so that Chris can update the list whenever he is able too.
