$$ for snails

How much do you buy nassarius, ceriths snails etc.

A LFS asked me 7.50USD for each snail.
Hmm for me its a way too much, and I am just wondering how much do you buy yours ?

well considering that you can literally get 300 Nassarus snails for $21 shipped off ebay : http://cgi.ebay.com/WOW-300-SALTWATE...QQcmdZViewItem

I would say they come very very cheap. The most I paid for is when I first started my tank and thought that a $1 a pop was cheap at my lfs (they also told me the nassarius were turbo snails at the time but thats a different story).

They come cheap beacuse if you keep a tank with just the snails, they procreate like crazy! 20 snails will get you 200 in no time...of course in a stocked tank most eggs will be eaten but my tank still pops out baby snails which have gorwn up

$7.50 per snail is highway robbery!

I got the ones off of ebay

wow!!!! my sand is clean!!! Everything is clean!! These snails are great. We got so many we had to give some to the neighbor. Very little die off. If I need more (getting a bigger tank) I will get them off of ebay again. MUCH CHEAPER than any LFS!!!

That is not a buy it now price and also notice what he says about shipping "COSTUMER USUALLY RECEIVES PRODUCT WITHIN ONE WEEK, SOMETIMES IT TAKES TWO WEEKS FOR DELIVERY." My guess is that after a week or two in the mail you will end up with 300 dead snails.

read the auction first

it says:
THE PRODUCT IS SENT USPS PRIORITY MAIL AND IS ONLY IN THE MAIL FOR TWO OR THREE DAYS. PLEASE GIVE ME A TRY, I KNOW YOU WILL BE SATISFIED AND LOVE THESE SNAILS.

Then he had better make up his mind on how long the shipping takes. Read the sentence right above what you quoted.

He says that they recieve them in 2-3 weeks, not that it takes 2-3 weeks in shipping. Sounds like hes collecting them, and it takes some time.

Guys if someone buys snails from ebay, we all know that if the shipping is not DHL they can take some days to arrive.

How long do snails normally live in a bag / shipment ?

The ebay link I posted was just meant as an example....point is there are plenty of people selling these snails on ebay all the time and they really are the cheapest you are going to find them....snails do really well in shipping IMO and you don't have much die off....

Many times they are for a 'buy it now' and combined with shipping the deals are still great compared to online stores or LFS.

They reproduce rapidly and anyone with some dedicated tanks for snails will find they can breed hundreds of them in a relatively short period of time. (rotating the tanks for sell and bredding)

Sorry LFS owners but snails in the shop are way overpriced and unless you only want a few, the sellers on ebay have the best deals.... and no I don't sell snails on ebay

I got my snails thru one of the ebay things.... they were shipped the same week(although said it could take up to two), emailed me when they were sent and all arrived alive and are now reproducing all over my tanks!

Cost me $20 for 250 of them, plenty for my 4 tanks.....
Can't beat that price! After buying that way...I wouldn't dream of getting them at the LFS.

LFS will sell "large" nassarius for 5-7 bucks, but the small ones are normally a buck or two. Shop around online, you can find 'em cheap.

I've ordered snails and had two day delivery before... little water in a bag, they do just fine.

those snails are cheap because they're not Nassarius snails, and yes, he's likely collecting these temperate snails in NC.

I've been getting my cleanup crew from eTropicals.com. They have a build-your-own package that has free shipping over $60. It ends up being a pretty good deal. They also put the items on sale a LOT so if you wait a week or two you can usually get the critters you want for a significant discount.

I have purchased twice from Aaron Sales on ebay. The snails were delivered alive as promised. out of 200 which I paid for, I probably got 250 and only four of those were DOA. I would definately do business with him again.
