Try a study on the lighting schedule and its affect on corals, I.E. Get some cheap star polyps and frag it into 3 peices, have one tank that is on a 12 on/ 12 off schedule. One tank on 24 hrs, and one tank with no light. document the process every other day and give your results. I think that would be a good project to show how light is so important to the reefs around the world. the other one would be various chemicals in the water and how they affect the reef, but I think it would be hard to document the results in a accurate way. especially since you would need large tanks to get a accurate result, and several of them. I think it would not be as affective a a light experiment.
