I left my frozen food out!

EEP!

I accidently left my formula one and two frozen out for about 10 hours today. Is it ruined? am I going to kill my fish if I feed it to them?

It may be a stupid question, but I havent left it out before.

also, how long is that stuff good for before I should be replacing it anyway?

I just did the same thing today sort of. I got some from the fish store after doing some running around and forgot to bring it in. So i'm considering it garbage. I don't think it should be refrozen. It should be good for a couple months if it don't get freezer burn. Just remember don't feed your fish anything you wouldn't eat. mmm Brine shrimp.

Dang, I do that an awful lot >< .

But never for 10 hours though. The longest is when I left silversides out for 6 hours and no one seems to mind or notice that I can tell.

Maybe try feeding your fish just a little bit of it. I doubt it would kill them if they actually ate it readily. My fish wont even touch tetramin (which won't even kill them) so the fish themselves should know if it's good or bad. They aren't stupid : ). But just try a little bit.. hate to see an entire package get ruined like that. I've eaten refrozen food several times, sometimes even rerefrozen, so I guess it's ok for the fish too as long as it isn't too bad .

Raw seafood sitting out on a counter for 10 hours does not seem like a good thing to feed your aquatic pets. I would toss it and get new.

My enormous grandfather "ages" his steaks for about three days in the sink a time then eats them and he's 79 I wouldn't worry about ten hours myself but if it's gonna bother you then replace it.

Any food, (that needs either freezing or refrigeration) either for us or are fish, should be discarded if it was left in the temp. danger zone for longer than 4 hours. The danger zone is anywhere between 41 - 140 degrees. Looks like that food sanitation class I took years ago it paying off
