Helfrich's Fire Fish

Hi guys.

I was thinking of ordering a helfrich's fire fish through my lfs. Currently i have a 110g tank, several frags, pods etc, emerald mythrax crab, several cleaners, false perc, coral beauty, royal gramma, rainfords goby. I am getting a orange shoulder tang today and a butterfly fish in the near futrure.

Is my setup good enough for one?

Cheers

Mike

I think the "Nano" will be much better for it. From what I gather, they are rather timid. My Purple Firefish dislikes my Coral Beauty alot and she hides much of the day because of it. hopefully she will get more used to him.

I don't think you'll have a problem, although they are timid, he will get used to his tankmates fairly quickly. I have had 3 firefish and each one went through a timid period before coming out into the tank. I have seen firefish with a yellow tang too (one of the more aggressive tangs) but none the less this is a big investment for one fish. Have a proper acclimation period and QT.

Beautiful Just Dave.
Perky, if you get one, keep a tight lid in your tank. They are jumpers.

I have a pair in my 180g with an emperor, two tangs, two perculas, and a starki damsel. They are always out swimming in the current. They even snatch food from out in front of my emperor who is the boss. They are timid fish for sure, but seem to do fine with my rowdy fish:

Mark & Dave

as it is very often reported that N. decora pairs start fighting after a few month (maybe sex change etc) I would like to know how long you have yours and how you purchased them. Did you select a pair out of a group or did the LFS provide a pair? Or did you just take two?

I just grabbed a couple at the shop and put 'em together. Got lucky.
Getting ready to do the same with two Rhomboids, let's hope I get as lucky.

Well mine shared a little cubicle at the LFS, and seemed ok together. I accepted the fact that they might bicker, but felt that they could probably stay out of each others hair in a 180g, i.e. establish separate territories. So far(2 weeks) they've been amenable to each other.
