Can I replace the MJ1200 in my Bakpak with a MJ900?

I've heard that high gph isn't what we're looking for when it comes to skimming. The Bakpak has two options, the Rio600 and the MJ1200. There is about 100gph difference between the two and I've read the Rio does a better job. Without switching to the Rio, can I just swap my 1200 with a 900.

Another reason why I want to swap it out is because of the wattage difference, 20w for the 1200 and 8.5w for the 900. Now that its summer, I'm trying to cut out as many watts out of the tank as possible.

Thank you.

It would be OK. Go ahead and swap it out, but the MJ1200 would make skimmer work better.
