Refugium Questions?

Hey i have been batteling a hair alge outbreak for about 3-4 months now. i am starting to get it under contrl. me and my guy at the lfs, who is not just a guy at the lfs he more of a friend with a job that is awesome. we decided that the algea was spawning in the fuge so we turned off thr light and ripped outalot of the alge. now that its starting to get better and all the stuff in the fuge is gone i got some cheato for it my big question is should i replace the pc bulb on the fuge it has been the about a year.

The best bulb I have ever used on a refugium is a $4.00 25 watt 6500K "Sunlight Supply Daylight" bulb from Walmart. Cheato goes nuts.

I use a lights of america fixture that has a 6500k bulb. It seems to do the job. You can get it at home depot for around 25.00$

Regarding your replacement question,Melv recommends changing after 4 months I believe. Probably an issue with the loss of intensity. By the way walmart sells a 30 watt 65k sunlight bulb that is great.

thanks guys. yeah i have a ecosystem refuge and the light it came with is like a 8 inch pc daylight, so i am stuck with it the price isn't an issue the kidd at the pet store basicaly charges me cost so its great.

bradl: thanks the time is what i was looking for so i will replace it.
so we will give it ago.
