peppermint hog
just got it, and hasn't see him for 2-3 days. do they hide under the sand. it was doing fine when pick in tank (swim around and eat pellet for first 2 days then when missing in action).

i got one in at the shop i work at on tuesday last week and he has only swam out in the open once. only find another spot to hide. from what i have read this is normal.

Hogs (bodianus) do not hide / dig in the sand.

whqt other fish do you have with it. mine hid behind a pump in the top corner of thr tank for a day or so then he was the most active fish in my tank. never aggresive but my mystery wrasse didnt take to kindly to him. they are relentless jumpers so keep that tank tight.

mine has been hiding for over a month now. i thought that he was dead, but they do love to hide. they are not open water column swimmers, they like to swim through the rocks more.

i have about 20t fish in the tank(Mystery Wrasse , Golden Fairy wrasse, Lineatus Fairy Wrasse, pair/Bellus Angel, pair/Watanabei Angel, pair/ Japanese Swallowtai, Goldflake Angel, Black;Yellow;Blue;Sohal;Chervon Tangs and a couple of Anthais. if it dead i would have seen the body, but nothing yet.

mine have always been very active. always swimming, very curious about what is going on in the tank
