New Fathead Anthias- spitting out food?
Just got my new Fathead/Starburst (Serranocirrhitus latus) Anthias a week ago, and he is eating live foods farely good (such as live brine, which I know is not the most nutritional of all foods).
This is why I started trying to wean the fish onto frozen foods such as mysid shrimp and formula preparations BUT when I do this the fish goes to eat the frozen preparations and then spits it out. (I have witnessed him eat at least two frozen shimp pieces and keep them down, but this is obviously not enough) I know the food is not too cold, because I soak the food in tank water to thaw it out...does the fish just not like the taste of the food? If this is the case, I have added the Garlic extract most recommend already with limited success. Does it just take more time? I have only tried feeding him frozen preparations twice. Should I make him go cold turkey off the live foods to make him more hungry and willing to take frozen preparations or try to mix the live foods with the frozen preparations and slowly decrease the amount of live foods included? Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

Try mixing both frozen and live together and try it out. For example, frozen food mixed with live brine to see what happens.

That is what I was thinking of doing...
But does he just spit out the frozen food because it tastes bad to him? Will he just get used to it over time and start eating it? And how long does it usually take for a fish like the fathead anthias to be weaned onto the frozen foods?
