Octopets isn't known for outstanding customer service Give them a call on Monday and say you want to coordinate shipping so you know you can be home that morning.

We've been trying to reach them via email and phone. Octopets isnt responding either way. Please post if you hear anything.

How's the octo looking? Did it arrive alive and in good shape? Any pics?

Thanks!

I attempted to feed him from the tongs but he did'nt go for it so I just set the krill down and he snatched it. I got the little white flipper things just from a local hardware store. Some things you can't see in the pic with that lid is that I have mesh all along the filter and the lid itself is Velcroed to the top of the tank.

Velco! BRILLIANT! never though of that one! I was going to use a fine netting material, how big are the holes in your netting? Are the flipper things glued on to the tank?

My friend ordered his Octo from Octopets last Friday... no email or phone call. Their voicemail box was full!!

Talking with the LFS close to work, they said octopus breeders and collectors (for resale) need to get certified every year, and could be what's causing the delay. I dont know if this is true or not, but we may be waiting a while for the octo to show up

Rumor has it that he doesn't currently have any stock. For the last couple years Octopets has had winter dry spells, especially with the flooding and landslides, etc. My first order was last January and it arrived in late March. Now I make contact before ordering There are also a few places that raise their own octos from Octopets eggs (Fishsupply, Liveaquaria), so if they have stock you might consider cancelling with Octopets and ordering from them.

I don't think the certification thing is true. O. bimaculoides isn't an endangered or uncommon species--I'm sure when Octopets needs new breeding stock he just heads to the tidepool. The company is also a large seafood breeder (not the octopuses!), so I imagine he does need some sort of inspections for that.

I placed an order through octopets on monday the 16th... obvioulsy havent heard anything.... but that kinda worries me that they might be out, i figured since Carson just got his, they might have some available... I just emailed to inquire, but doubt I will hear anything back.... I called fishupply, and they said that their stocfk is still young, and to try back in a month...

Keep trying to call Octopets, you'll get through eventually. That's good news for me that Fishsupply will have stock in a month...birthday bimac

That's SOP. Every mail order fish place that I've ever ordered from--Fishsupply, ThatPetPlace, LiveAquaria, charges that. It isn't cheap to overnight a bag of water somewhere!
