Why can't we close our own threads?

This used to be an option a while ago but for some reason its not available. One used to be able to erase an entire thread if s/he was the topic starter and erased her post. Just curious as to why this feature was removed? I personally liked the ability to kill my own thread if it was gettin ugly.

I cant remember ever letting a user delete a thread. That is an admin function, IMO.

Yup. I was Reefland, although you were allowed to delete your own thread and not close it. Unfortunatly Scott removed that function because of member abuse.

Members were deleting threads when they did not agree with the responces. It was good while it lasted.

When you submit a post you are subject to all responses, the good, the bad and the ugly.

That's what an OPEN forum is all about. Everyone can speak their mind on the subject mater. If you don't like the responces quit visiting your thread. That's simple.

Let the admin do their job. That's why they're paid so much money.

Kinda the same, but kinda different.... JohnL, does vbulletin have an editing tag? I have seen posts that changed during the course of a thread depending on the replies that came afterward. It might be nice to see some sort of "edited by John Doe, 12/20/01" notation if possible.

Yes, it does. It also allows us to set a grace period. Edits done within the grace period do not show that tag. I currently have the grace period set to 60 minutes.

Man, that's a nice feature John. At the very least w/ UBB, you are going to get one edit tag (the most recent). You can delete the others when you edit the post for the second time, third time, etc.

What about Admins and Moderators? I notice that sometimes when you edit other people's posts, the [Edited by _____] tag doesn't show at all...kinda spooky to me.
