How much weight can a 4x4 hold??

I am building a stand to hold my refugium and I am wondering how much weight a 4x4 can hold if the only support is two legs on either end of the 4x4? the length of the 4x4 is 82". All of the 4x4 are pressure treated, don't know if that makes a difference.

Pressure treating weakens lumber, but I don't
know how much. Maybe you can find statistics
on the web.

The chemicals injected into the wood are toxic.
I think PT lumber contains both insecticides and
fungicides. Bad news for delicate critters. Heck,
bad news for humans .

"Fresh" PT lumber from the store is practically
dripping wet with these chemicals. If the lumbers
air dries for a few months, it will pose less risk.

Personally, I would not use PT lumber anywhere
near an aquarium.

Besides the nasty chemicals used on pressure treated lumber, ime it's not a reliable product for this application. Treated lumber tends to twist, bow and bend, not attributes you want holding up a tank or refugium.

jmo,
